Abuja, Nigeria - The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially declared Friday, April 21, and Monday, April 24, 2023, as public holidays to commemorate the Muslim festival of Eid-al-Fitr. This announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, on behalf of the Federal Government.
Eid-al-Fitr, also known as the "Festival of Breaking the Fast," marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, a period of fasting and spiritual reflection for Muslims worldwide. The festival is celebrated with prayers, communal feasts, and the exchange of gifts.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Interior, the Minister urged Muslim faithful to use the occasion of the holiday to reflect on the spiritual lessons of Ramadan and to promote peace and unity among all Nigerians.
The Minister also implored Nigerians to continue to support the efforts of the government in fostering national cohesion and development. He wished all Muslims a happy and fulfilling Eid-al-Fitr celebration.
