A rollercoaster season for Victor Boniface reached new heights on Tuesday when he scored the opening goal in a 5-0 drubbing of Stuttgart. However, just a day later, Bayer Leverkusen's Nigerian striker has been ruled out of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) due to an injury.
Boniface has made a blistering start to his Bayer Leverkusen career, scoring nine goals and assisting on three others in just 13 appearances. His impressive form earned him a call-up to the Nigerian national team for the upcoming AFCON tournament in Cameroon.
However, Boniface's participation in the tournament has now been cut short due to a hamstring injury he sustained in Leverkusen's win over Stuttgart. The club confirmed the injury in a statement on Wednesday, expressing disappointment that Boniface would not be able to represent his country at the continental competition.
