D-backs Use Long Ball to Blank Rangers

Arizona's offense explodes for five home runs in 10-0 victory

Diamondbacks improve to 3-5 on the young season

The Arizona Diamondbacks used a barrage of home runs to blank the Texas Rangers 10-0 on Tuesday night at Chase Field. The D-backs hit five home runs in the game, including two from Ketel Marte and one from David Peralta.

Arizona's offense got off to a fast start, scoring three runs in the first inning on a home run by Marte and a double by Christian Walker. The D-backs added another run in the second inning on a sacrifice fly by Pavin Smith, and then blew the game open with a three-run home run by Peralta in the third inning.

Marte added his second home run of the game in the fifth inning, and Josh Reddick capped off the scoring with a solo home run in the eighth inning. The D-backs' five home runs were their most in a game since they hit six against the San Diego Padres on September 20, 2021.

Arizona's starting pitcher, Merrill Kelly, was dominant on the mound, allowing just three hits and two walks over six scoreless innings. Kelly struck out seven batters and improved his record to 2-0 on the season.

The D-backs' bullpen was also solid, with Ian Kennedy, Joe Mantiply, and Mark Melancon combining to allow just one hit over the final three innings.

With the win, the D-backs improved to 3-5 on the season. They will face the Rangers again on Wednesday night at Chase Field.
